Standards

Microsoft believes that the future of connected television and web video delivery depend on the establishment of standards for DRM interoperability that are compatible with adaptive streaming standards. Since 2008, Microsoft has been a key contributor to the establishment of key international standards that together are shaping the convergence of broadcast and broadband content delivery to all types of devices.

Microsoft PlayReady supports the following standards efforts:

CMAF

PlayReady 4.0 supports CMAF interoperable format with AES-CBC and AES-CTR encryption. More news on PlayReady 4.0 and support in Windows 10 and XBox coming soon!
